Oklahoma Gin is a variation of Gin Rummy which is a skill-based card game.
Number of players
In a 2 player game each player is dealt 10 cards. In a 3-4 player game, each player is dealt 7 cards.
Cards Point values Ace 1 point, • Run (sequence), consisting of three or more consecutive numbers of the same color Example
•Groups, consisting of three or four tiles of the same number and different shapes Example
The goal in Oklahoma Gin is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand, by melding them into sets and runs and laying them down.
Normal round
Deadwood (Unmatched cards)
The players must begin a turn by drawing a card either from the stock or discard piles, and adding it to their hand. To complete their turn, players must discard a single card from their hand onto the discard pile.
Knocking can be done on any turn (including first round), after the discard phase, provided that the value of the unmatched deadwood cards in player's hand does not exceed the value of the topmost card of the discard pile (the up card). In other words the value of the topmost card of the discard pile decides the highest number of points a player need to knock in that particular hand if the topmost card is an Ace The players must go for Gin (see below). After players Knock, their defeated opponents may lay their melds down onto the table, and add matching cards to the Knocker's original melds only. Therefore, the Knock move provides the defeated players with an opportunity to reduce their amount of penalty points far more than Gin. Knocking is obligatory. A player who is able to knock does not have to knock. He may instead choose to continue
playing and try for gin or a lower total point count
Is when a player deadwood count is equal to or lower to the the Knocker deadwood. Undercut rewards the winners with 20 points
After players Gin, the opponents may lay their melds down onto the table, to decrease their deadwood count and therefore reduce their amount of penalty points.
Example to gin hand : Two sets one run
if the stock pile is reduced to two cards, and the player who took the third last card discards without knocking, the hand is cancelled, there is no score, and the same dealer deals again.
